| Trivia |
+ Josh Hartnett (Slevin) lived with writer Jason Smilovic and his girlfriend in New York while the script was being written. Smilovic said that he thought of having Slevin wear a towel a lot of the time because he saw Hartnett in one so often. More so it added a vulnerable quality to Slevin.
+ The hand X-ray in the coroner's office is the director's hand.
+ The name of the film comes from an episode title of "The New Shmoo" (1979). Shmoo is also referenced by Morgan Freeman in the movie. However, Morgan Freeman's description of a Shmoo is a paraphrase of the standard version from Li'l Abner by Al Capp who introduced the fantasy beast in 1948.
+ On promotional material for the film, Ben Kingsley's credit included his KCVO title. At first, the actor was singled out for some criticism as such things are usually omitted from professional credits. It transpired that this was a mistake by a studio executive, who was unfamiliar with the British honours system.
+ SPOILER: An alternate scene was filmed in which Slevin kills Lindsey but was considered too dark.
+ SPOILER: (Warning! Also contains a spoiler for House of Sand and Fog (2003)): It is the second movie in which Ben Kingsley dies by having a plastic bag over his head. The other one was House of Sand and Fog (2003), although in that case, he did it to himself.
+ SPOILER: In the end, the pseudonym alias of Slevin; "Kelevra" which is Hebrew for 'bad dog' ties with Bruce Willis's character, Smith/Mr. Goodkat.
+ Lucy Liu admited that she developed a crush on Josh Hartnett during the filming stage.
+ Josh Hartnett and director Paul McGuigan worked together in Wicker Park together. Director liked working with Josh so much that he asked him to be in Lucky Number Slevin.
+ The only scene where a stunt double was used for Josh Hartnett was the bit where Josh's character was pushed off the truck.
+ The film's title in Australia is The Wrong Man. This is the title of a 1956 Hitchcock film in which the lead character has a case of mistaken identity, a theme which many Hitchcock films, and indeed this film, share.[3] In fact, the main character's plight in North by Northwest is referenced by The Rabbi as being similar to Slevin's.
+ Bruce Willis and Josh Hartnett were in another movie together, Sin City. Hartnett was a hitman in that movie, too.

| Goofs and Mistakes |
+ Continuity: When Slevin is eating the first
sandwich he eats in the movie, it changes from being half eaten to having
only one bite taken out of it.
+ Anachronisms: Towards the beginning of the film at the horse track
they show a horse fall during a race. In one of the scenes you can see a new
John Deere tractor in the upper left hand corner of the screen. The scene
was supposed to be set in 1979.
+ Factual errors: When Lindsey takes a picture of Smith, she steps in
front of him to take his picture. When she later shows the picture to Slevin,
it is a side shot of Smith.
+ Revealing mistakes: At the beginning of the movie, when Slim
Hopkins gets shot in front of the door of his car, the window's glass is
already broken before the bullet goes through him into it.
+ Crew or equipment visible: During the opening credits when Nick is
walking towards the camera to sit down, you can see the reflection of the
camera man moving around in the back of the front left blue chair.
+ Miscellaneous: When Max and his son are sitting in the car at the
racetrack, the vehicles are parked too close together. There is only about
eight or ten feet between rows of cars. There is no way a driver would be
able to maneuver a car out of a parking spot.
+ Miscellaneous: When Willis is shooting two silenced pistols at the
men coming through the wall, the pistol in his left hand has a bent
silencer. It is obviously bent down at about 15 degrees and would be
dangerous to the shooter if shooting anything but blanks.
+ Continuity: When Lindsay leaves Slevin (after their initial
meeting) carrying a glass cup containing sugar, the cup is only 1/4 filled.
When she (immediately) returns, to see if he has, again, removed his towel,
the cup is about 2/3 filled. |
| Quotes |
| + Slevin: I'm just a guy who is in the wrong place at
the wrong time. + Slevin: I'm just a guy who's dinner's getting cold
+ Sloe: The boss wants to see you
Slevin: Who?
Sloe: The Boss
Slevin: Who's the Boss?
Sloe: The guy we work for.
+ Slevin: I'm not the guy your'e looking for, I dont live here.
Sloe: Yeah well, you like the guy who live here.
Slevin: Well you don't know what the guy that lives here looks like.
Elivs: What he means to say is, you look like the guy who lives here man.
Sloe: yeah... that is what I meant to say.
Slevin: I'm not Nick Fischer.
+ Girlfriend: It was an accident...
Slevin: What? Like you tripped and he fell?
+ The Boss: I'm the boss
Slevin: I thought he was the boss
The Boss: Why, do we look alike?
+ Slevin: They picked up the wrong guy
The Boss: The wrong guy for what?
Slevin: Whatever it is, you want to see me about.
The Boss: Do you know what is, what I want to see you about?
Slevin: No
The Boss: Then how do you know, I have the wrong guy? Maybe I want to give you a
$96.000 dollars. In that case, do I still have the wrong guy?
Slevin: Do you want to give me $96.000 dollars?
The Boss: No. Do you want to give ME $96.000 dollars?
Slevin: No. should I?
The Boss: I don't know, should you?
+ Slevin: How did you find us?
Goodcat: I'm a world class assassin f**khead. How do you think I found out?
+ Lindsey: How ironic.
Slevin: I know. I don't even gamble.
Lindsey: No. A mobster with a gay son. That's ironic.
+ Slevin: This isn't the first time this has happened, you know.
Lindsey: You mean this isn't the first time a crime lord asked you to kill the
gay son of a rival gangster to pay off a debt that belongs to a friend whose
place you're staying in as a result of losing your job, your apartment, and
finding your girlfriend in bed with another guy?
Slevin: No, this is the first time THAT happened, but Nick has been painting me
into corners since we were kids.
+ Mr. Goodkat: Charlie Chaplin once entered a Charlie Chaplin
look-alike contest in Monte Carlo and came in third; that's a story.
+ Lindsey: I was thinking that if you're still alive when I get
back from work tonight... maybe we could go out to dinner or something?
+ Lindsey: I'm short for my height. |
