Trivia
+ The director and writers decided to treat this movie as if Halloweens 3-6 never took place. This was a decision made to keep the plot simple and focus on the Laurie character.
+ During the scene where Norma is leaving, she stands in front the car from Psycho (1960). The music playing in the background at this part is also from Psycho. Janet Leigh, who plays Norma, played Marion in Psycho. The license plate on the car is also the same as the second car Marion buys in Psycho, NFB 418, which are Norman Bates' initials.
+ When Jamie Lee Curtis' character says, "go down the street to the Beckers..." this was supposed to refer to the line from Halloween (1978), "go down the street to the McKenzie's house..." The name was changed to Becker, which was the last name of Drew Barrymore's character in Scream (1996).
+ In certain scenes, Michael can be seen wearing two different masks. The director decided well into production, to go with a different mask, so certain scenes were re-shot. Some scenes with the original mask can still be seen, and in one shot it had to be altered with CGI to replace Michael's old mask with the new one.
+ LL Cool J's line, "Comb your hair!" was ad-libbed, inspired by Josh Hartnett's messy haircut.
+ Josh's film debut.
+ SPOILER: There was at one time a plan for Michael Myers to speak a single line at the end of the movie. He was to have said "Laurie" just before being beheaded by Jamie Lee Curtis. This idea was dropped from the final script.
+ The movie is spoofed in Scream 3 and Scary Movie. The movie spoofs Psycho, Halloween and Halloween II.
+ Referred in Charmed.
Goofs and Mistakes
+ Crew or equipment visible: When Laurie, John and Molly are running away from Michael to the car, John is pushed into the back seat, when the door is closed, a very bright stage light is reflected into the window.
+ Continuity: When John and Molly first see Michael they run out of the kitchen and climb out through a window. Molly climbs out first then John, who goes out head first. When we see him from the outside, he is climbing out the window feet first.
+ Audio/visual unsynchronized: After Molly hits Michael in the face with the rock and runs away, Michael looks up. It is clearly a different mask.
+ Factual errors: An ice skate through the face would not be a clean stab, it would shatter the skull.
Quotes
+ Norma Watson: Oh. Miss Tate. I didn't mean to make you jump. It's Halloween. I guess everyone's entitled to one good scare.
Laurie Strode: I've had my share.

+ John: Because today is the day. I can feel it. Today is the day you are going to realize that I am seventeen years old and your overprotection and paranoia is inhibiting my growing process.

+ John: It just occured to me today that I've never celebrated Halloween before.
Molly: And why's that?
John: Oh, we've got a psychotic serial killer in the family who loves to butcher people on Halloween, and I just thought it in bad taste to celebrate.

+[about shoplifting a bottle of alcoholic drink]
John: I can't believe we're doing this.
Charlie: Desperate measures.
John: It's illegal.
Charlie: It's harmless and expected.
